About Joanne Brodie
Joanne Brodie comes from a good middle class northern suburbs Jewish family. Educated up to matric, she went to university twice but never succeeded more than first year level both times. She is well travelled and has been to to New York, Canada and Boston. Joanne has spent a lot of time in Paris and French speaking Switzerland.
She was a partner in an international art gallery dealing in impressionist and post impressionist art. The gallery was situated in Sandown in the early 1980’s when South Africa was at the height of cultural isolation.
Joanne is currently an addictions counsellor in private practice and is very passionate about her work. She loves yoga and crosswords. Joanne lives with Mignon her fourteen year old African Grey parrot who, she says, is like her child. Her son, Darren lives in Israel.
Woman Trashed (Penguin, 2009) is her first book.
